Whitehaven Residence
Code Green Pty Ltd was engaged to turn this tired old house into a home. With a host of rooms, making the best use of space throughout the four levels of the home required a creative eye and attention to detail to merged the entire dwelling while still creating individual spaces. Opening out cluttered spaces enabled the maximisation of the expansive bushland views, which were reflected in strategically placed mirrors. A spa area gave life to a once barren outdoor courtyard whose entrance was through glass doors from the main bathroom. The internal brick structure provides comprehensive coverage of insulation within the home, whereas natural light penetration was enabled via large windows and the glass brick wall, which filters sunlight through the core of the home. Warm in winter cool in summer, the materials compliment the internal and external design and have been specifically picked to minimize maintenance costs. A complimentary gas heating system adds additional control of the homes inner environment. Special touches such as the internal garden and waterfall on natural rock face, blended the external with the internal, as did the flooring selection and fresh wall finishes ensuring that the home became light and spacious, well ventilated and individual. Extensive planning during the design stage ensured that the project ran smoothly from start to finish.
